Matrix – For Real… – video powered by Metacafe

Read/Write Web recently reported about video sharing site Metacafe. It has a revenue sharing programme for user submitted videos (to which they own copyright).

The payments are on a sliding scale and based on ‘views’. Payments start at 20,000 views ($100) and go up from there – e.g. 2 million views is $10,000. Videos must also have a rating of 3.00 or higher (maximum is 5.00) to qualify for payment

With over 4 and half million views of this video, this has turned into a nice little earner for something left on the site for nearly 3 years now. Are there any videos that you’ve taken that could be earning you money on an ongoing basis for doing nothing?

The video is hardly “The Matrix – for real”, yet what is impressive is the number of views it has got and therefore the payment to Reel Stunts that can be viewed here.

[...] Whilst clearing out my hard drive I came across a few videos which would be fun to share with friends and family. Rather than email it out (too big), I decided to upload them to an online video site, but which one? I’ve previously posted about Metacafe, and have used YouTube & Google Video to view movies, but as of yet I haven’t uploaded any. I’m also one of the beta testers for Microsoft’s answer to the combined Google/YouTube user generated online video market, Soapbox, so I thought it would be interesting to go through the process of uploading a video to each of the sites and measuring how easy it was and the resulting video quality.
